Spy satellite

spy satellite
This spy satellite was featured in Cry Wolf. The model appears to have been made using a variety of Vollmer or Kibri OO scale model railroad gas or oil storage tank kits of different diameters for its basic shape with various kit bits (Airfix Girder Bridge for one) and other things added on for detail.

Space station KLA

kla
Here is 'pirate' space radio station KLA as seen in Ricochet. This model appears to have been made from parts of the Cry Wolf spy satellite described above. In this shot the KLA model is seen suspended in front of Derek Meddings' famous rolling space backdrop.

MSP

msp
The MSP (Mars Space Probe) rocket slowly makes its way through a crowded city in Day of Disaster. The MSP model appears to have been based upon an interestingly shaped plastic squeeze bottle to which balsa wood fins and plastic soda straw rocket exhaust tubes were added.

Sunprobe

sunprobe
The 'Sunprobe' rocket was featured in Sunprobe. This model appears to have been made out of wood turnings, cardboard tubes, balsa wood sheet, copper wire, and two plastic B-58 kit jet engine pods. In this scene, the Sunprobe model is suspended in front of Derek Meddings' famous rolling space backdrop.

Telsat 4 launch vehicle

telsat 4
Here is the Telsat 4 communications satellite launch vehicle seen in Ricochet. This simple yet realistic model appears to have been made from a series of wood turnings. Note how the pyrotechnic rocket exhaust is pointing straight down. Towards the end of Thunderbirds, Derek Meddings came up with the technique of filming rocket models upside down. In this way, when the film was reversed, the exhaust flames would not curl 'upwards' and the clouds of exhaust smoke would never overtake and rise above the stationary or slow moving model rocket!

USAF space observatory

usaf space observatory
This U.S. Air Force manned space observatory was featured in The Imposters. This model appears to have been made out of brass painted wood turnings and various kit parts (Airfix Girder Bridge for one) and other bits. Note: the parabolic antenna attached to the bottom of the model appears to have been made out of a metal tea strainer!

Ufo

ufo
This isn't really a UFO. It's only a low budget film prop featured in Martian Invasion. This model appears to have been made out of a pair of plastic kitchen bowls with other things added for detail.

Christmas rocket

xmas rocket
Here is the Christmas present transport rocket featured in Give or Take a Million. This simple model appears to have been made out of wood. The model in this shot is suspended by fine wires in front of Derek Meddings' famous rolling sky backdrop.
